“If you do things right, everything will go right. We have to do things right to keep moving forward.”
CRICURSA, founded in Barcelona in 1928, is a family-owned company dedicated to the production of curved glass, flat glass, and special architectural glass. Since its beginnings, it has continuously incorporated technological improvements year after year, as well as updates to its portfolio, in order to support its clients in meeting their demands.
Thanks to this process of continuous renewal and research alongside the market, Favio Ribero, Operations Director, defines the company as “the dream factory for architects” — “we are dedicated to making their dreams come true.”

Today, the company has 100,000 m² of production capacity divided across three sites. These facilities include processes such as storage, loading, and automatic cutting for glass up to 18 meters, autoclaves and annealed bending furnaces, as well as insulating glass systems. A workforce of 300 engineers and highly qualified technicians makes the company a benchmark in its sector.

CRICURSA has strong representation across all continents, although it has a greater presence in nearby markets such as Western Europe and the United States. Its main clients are architects, engineering firms, façade contractors, and consultants involved in singular building projects.
Among its latest projects are La Samaritaine in Paris (France), designed by SANAA; the 2 Murray Road office complex in Hong Kong (China), designed by Zaha Hadid Architects; and the One Manhattan West towers in New York (USA), designed by SOM – Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

The relationship between CRICURSA and TUROMAS has a long history. It began in 2014–2015 with a special project for cutting 12-meter glass. Thanks to the joint work carried out between the technical teams of CRICURSA and TUROMAS, a cutting system was developed that met 100% of the quality requirements and tolerances demanded by their clients.
When the Spanish company once again saw an opportunity for growth and to evolve from 12 meters to 18 meters, CRICURSA had no doubts. “The first people we went to inform about this new adventure were our partners, our allies, TUROMAS,” says Favio Ribero.
With the acquisition of the new 18-meter glass cutting line, CRICURSA positions itself at the forefront of special architectural glass processing, becoming one of the few companies in the world capable of reaching that size with the required quality standards.

NEW RUBI 5118
The new cutting line enables the processing of glass up to 18.10 m by 3.30 m. It features an innovative edge deletion system capable of removing a wide range of coatings such as Low-E, TPF, EasyPro, and others, while also managing the waste generated during the process.
“TUROMAS has developed a strong edge deletion system that solves one of the most common handicaps in the glass processing market.”
The wheel incorporates an advanced cooling system that prevents significant temperature increases along its edges. In addition, this airflow cleans residues adhered to the surface, significantly reducing the number of wheel sharpening operations.

“This new system allows you to achieve very high quality even when multiple edge deletions are carried out. The surface remains very clean, avoiding subsequent problems with silicone adhesion.”
Another of the most important aspects of the RUBI 5118 table is its 4-tool cutting system. This definitively eliminates manual wheel changes by automatically detecting the glass thickness and selecting the appropriate tool for each type of sheet.

The 4TOOL integrates four automatically selected individual cutting tools, each with its own cutting wheel, lubrication system, and pressure cylinder specifically sized for its cutting range.
The first tool is designed for cutting glass from 0.55 mm to 2 mm thick. The second and third tools are used for glass from 2 mm to 12 mm, which are the most common thicknesses. The fourth tool uses a larger diameter wheel to cut glass of 12 mm, 15 mm, 19 mm, and 25 mm.
“It achieves a very clean cut that practically eliminates the polishing area.”
This solution makes TUROMAS the only machinery manufacturer in the flat glass industry capable of achieving high-quality cutting at any thickness, significantly reducing subsequent glass processing, saving costs, and shortening production times.
