The need to modernize their facilities arose when OTM realized that limited workspace was becoming a constraint to growth. The solution came from TUROMAS, which introduced an automated loading and storage system that not only solved the space limitation but also enabled increased production capacity without compromising efficiency.
An SR-03 rack shuttle storage system was installed alongside an LR-03 system with 26 positions, capable of storing up to 208 tons of glass.
In collaboration with IGE, TUROMAS’ distributor in the U.S., a tailored project was developed to meet all OTM requirements. The result was a solution that maximizes available space while significantly improving efficiency and storage capacity.

– Who is Over the Mountain Glass? Tell us about your company’s history, location, and workforce.
OTM is a full-service glass manufacturing facility. We specialize in heavy glass shower enclosures and custom railings. We offer a wide range of products, from insulated glass units to beveled mirrors. We currently operate two locations in Alabama and employ over 50 people.
– What products and services does Over the Mountain Glass offer? What production processes can be found in your facility?
Tempering, custom CNC processing, edging, beveling, insulating glass, and back painting.
– How did the need for new TUROMAS cutting machines arise?
We had limited space and needed to maximize our storage capacity. Heinz introduced us to an excellent solution with the TUROMAS loading and tilting system. With this setup, we were able to triple our glass storage capacity and keep more glass in production, with up to three glass packs per rack.

What stands out most for us is the simple and user-friendly interface. The system was very easy for our team to learn and operate. The full installation took about 8 days, followed by two full days of training, and we felt confident using it right away.
The technical support we have received after installation has also been outstanding. TUROMAS has been highly responsive whenever we encountered issues, helping us resolve questions and better understand the system.
This was the best fit for OTM due to how quickly the machine could be delivered and installed. We felt confident in TUROMAS’ ability to deliver these services, and we appreciated the heavy-duty build quality — we know this machine will last for many years to come.
