Grupo Tecnovidrio has taken a decisive step in its growth with the launch of a new production plant in Toluca, Mexico. Equipped with TUROMAS technology, the project includes two RUBI 517C monolithic glass cutting tables and an automated glass storage system.
With a family legacy dating back to the early 20th century, Grupo Tecnovidrio represents the continuity of a long-standing glass tradition in Mexico. Founded in 1992 by José Antonio Riestra, the company carries forward the legacy started by his grandfather — a pioneer in mirror manufacturing in the country — and later continued by his father.

Today, the company continues to evolve by combining craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to deliver large-format glass solutions, laminated glass, and low-emissivity glazing for high-end architectural projects.
“We focus primarily on architecture, working on special projects with large-format glass. Our goal is to bring the vision of designers to life,” says José Antonio Riestra, CEO of Grupo Tecnovidrio.
Throughout its trajectory, Grupo Tecnovidrio has participated in some of Mexico’s most iconic projects, such as Torre Virreyes, Torre Reforma, and the Los Cabos Convention Center, where the challenge was to deliver large glass panels within a very tight timeframe for the G20 Summit.

Partnership with TUROMAS: technology driving efficiency and production planning
In its latest expansion phase, Grupo Tecnovidrio has relied on TUROMAS to equip its new plant with state-of-the-art machinery for glass cutting and automated storage systems.
“We have known TUROMAS for many years; it was one of the first brands we incorporated. In this new phase, we worked closely together to design a tailor-made solution aligned with our production needs,” explains José Antonio Riestra.
The project, conceived before the pandemic and developed jointly by both teams, has enabled Tecnovidrio to optimize its production processes, ensuring precision, continuity, and full traceability in every order.
Technical solution delivered
From the outset, TUROMAS and Tecnovidrio’s technical teams collaborated closely to design a solution tailored to both current requirements and future growth objectives. The result is a phased project that facilitates technological adaptation, staff training, and a smooth transition towards a more automated and efficient workflow.
The project, currently in its final installation phase, includes the integration of a complete intelligent glass cutting and storage system. Tecnovidrio has acquired two RUBI 517C cutting tables, equipped with linear motors and an ACR edge deletion system, specifically designed to process coated glass such as EasyPro and TPF.

To supply the cutting lines, an SR-07 intelligent rack shuttle storage system has been installed, featuring 39 positions and a storage capacity of up to 624 tons of glass, including an external loading position that allows the system to be replenished without interrupting the operational cycle.

Both systems — cutting lines and storage — are designed to handle two standard sheets or one jumbo sheet, increasing system versatility and optimizing daily operations.
The next phase of the project includes the integration of two offcut storage systems, one for each cutting line, completing the full storage and material optimization workflow.
“The involvement of the TUROMAS team was outstanding. They fully understood our needs and provided strong support throughout the entire project, which was not easy. TUROMAS truly operates at the level of any leading global manufacturer, offering user-friendly equipment with cutting-edge technology.”
Staying true to its family-driven philosophy, Grupo Tecnovidrio fosters close and trusted relationships with both its team members and suppliers.

“Our goal is to grow together. This project has been a major step forward for us and a clear example of what can be achieved through teamwork,” concludes José Antonio Riestra.
The collaboration between TUROMAS and Grupo Tecnovidrio stands as a strong example of how experience, innovation, and trust can turn a vision into a productive reality. Thanks to the implementation of advanced technology and close cooperation between teams, Tecnovidrio’s new plant is now positioned as one of the most advanced glass processing facilities in Mexico, ready to meet market demands with efficiency, precision, and flexibility.
