Following the dinner at the medieval castle of Mora de Rubielos, Álvaro Tomás, Vice President of Turomas, was in charge of presenting the award to Carlos Fernández, Director of the Madrid-based company.
Throughout this interview, Carlos explains what the award has meant for them, the keys to being a good agent, and the relationship they maintain with Turomas.

On my first visit to Turomas, when I left the factory I told myself: “I have to work for this company.”
Carlos Fernandez
How did your commercial relationship with Turomas begin?
Our relationship started in 2004 as a technical service and, around 2016, we began our commercial service.
What has the Best Agent of the Year award meant to you?
A very great satisfaction for the work accomplished.
How has your relationship with Turomas been so far?
We have an exceptional relationship based on mutual trust.
Any anecdote that you especially remember?
After so many years, there are many I could tell, but I’ll stick with the first visit to Turomas. When I left the factory I said to myself: “I have to work for this company.”
What qualities do you consider a good agent should have?
The characteristics that define a good agent are: product knowledge, determination, and honesty.
What do customers think about Turomas?
Customers believe that Turomas is a great company, a machinery manufacturer with exceptional standards. It is also a brand that stands out for its good treatment and the attention provided at all times.
On Saturday, July 27th, in Rubielos de Mora, you experienced the presentation on the Turomas expansion plan firsthand. What do you think?
We think it is a great project that will position Turomas as a world leader in the manufacturing of cutting tables and loading systems for the glass industry.
What are the future challenges facing Satecris?
To continue working to maintain trust in the excellence of the Turomas brand and to ensure that customers continue to choose it as their first option over others.
Alumni as Best Distributor 2018
Within each edition of International Networks!, Turomas rewards the work of the best distributor of the previous year. In the third and final edition, held on Saturday, July 27th, the recognition went to the Romanian company Alumni (In the [Alumni as Best Distributor 2018] section).
Following the dinner at the medieval castle of Mora de Rubielos, Radu Ciulei and Cristina Arad, owners and directors of Alumni, collected the award from Turomas Vice President, Álvaro Tomás.
Alumni is a family business that started fourteen years ago in Brasov. Currently, its activity extends across Romania, Bulgaria, and Moldova, offering machinery and equipment solutions for insulating glass and flat glass.
In the following interview, Cristina Arad talks about what the award has meant for them, the present and future of the glass sector, and the relationship with Turomas.
Interview with Radu Ciulei and Cristina Arad, owners of Alumni

Turomas is the near future in glass cutting worldwide. Meeting Álvaro and his team made it very clear to us that this is a boat we want to be on. They are young, bright, talented, bold—the next generation that will move things forward. Attitude determines success.
Cristina Arad
How did your commercial relationship with Turomas begin?
Our story began at Vitrum in 2015, when we approached Turomas asking them to become our distributor in Romania. That was the first step.
In Alumni’s machinery portfolio, a serious partner for glass cutting was missing. At that time, Romania was eager for new brands, technologies, and alternative professional solutions in glass processing equipment.
What does the recognition as Best Distributor of 2018 mean to you?
It was truly unexpected; I was very happy to hear that we are at the top and to realize that we have a partner who recognizes our work.
This recognition means a lot to all of us because every project we close is teamwork. We are passionate about glass; it is part of who we are. We are proud, excited, and this also challenges us to maintain the same pace.
What does Alumni value most about Turomas?
Turomas is the near future in glass cutting worldwide. Meeting Álvaro and his team made it very clear to us that this is a boat we want to be on. They are young, bright, talented, bold—the next generation that will move things forward. Attitude determines success.
And the customers, what do they appreciate most about Turomas?
The Romanian market is quite conservative, so we are glad we started well together. Turomas is the challenger, the last to enter the playing field; it takes more time to be completely accepted. Alumni fights hard to position the real value of Turomas and build trust. In the end, market perception is a combination of technology and responsibility, innovation and a fresh focus.
How do you see the present and future of the sector?
Our customers are investing more in the glass business; it seems the future is promising for many of them. European funding programs have certainly helped many companies, in addition to the high volume of exports of windows, doors, and insulating glass units.
There are expectations for economic growth despite political challenges, thanks to the work of a generation of entrepreneurs who have made businesses prosper across all industries.
On Saturday, July 27th, in Rubielos de Mora, you learned firsthand about the Turomas expansion plan. What do you think?
We are proud to have been in Rubielos; it was an inspiring event. Turomas’ plans are ambitious but feasible. Step by step, with hard work, intelligence, and care, they will become a reality. A reality we would like to be part of, as we are part of their progress.
