Shaping, Supporting, Believing: TUROMAS and Education

From Rubielos de Mora, a small town in Teruel (Spain), TUROMAS has spent more than four decades manufacturing intelligent machinery for cutting, loading, and storing flat glass.

We do so with the same passion we started with, but always looking ahead. And that future, beyond machines, is built by people. That is why, for years, TUROMAS has been committed to opening its doors to young people in training. Because we believe in talent, in opportunities, and in the importance of building bridges between education and industry.

A relationship that started with a talk

It all began with something as simple as a talk at a high school. At IES Segundo de Chomón in Teruel, we discovered vocational training programs that perfectly aligned with our activity: Electromechanical Maintenance, Electrical Installations, Automation, and Robotics… And most importantly: committed teachers and highly motivated students.

That first meeting made something clear: there were young people with great potential who didn’t know that, just a few kilometers from home, there was a company like ours. A technological, innovative, internationally oriented company that could become their future workplace. From that moment on, we knew it couldn’t stop at a single talk. We had to be present. We had to get involved.

Over time, the network grew. Alongside IES Chomón, we began collaborating with IES Vega del Turia, where we have already welcomed students in internships in International Trade and Administrative Management. Soon, we will also begin working with IES Francés de Aranda.

This has allowed us to meet very different profiles, moving beyond technical roles and opening up to areas such as logistics, purchasing, and commercial management. Because in a company like ours, there is much more than machinery: there are people organizing, planning, communicating… And every part of that system matters.

When internships turn into careers

One of the greatest rewards of this journey is seeing how internships evolve into something more. In recent years, several students who started with us as part of their training are now full members of the TUROMAS team.

Hosam, Fran, Javier, Hamid, Héctor, Raúl, Adrián, Miguel Ángel, Any, Sergio, Teresa… These are names you hear every day in offices, on the production floor, and in meetings. People who found an opportunity here and made the most of it. People who chose to stay, grow, and become part of this story.

Today, we currently have two students completing internships at TUROMAS: Pilar Galván, in a dual vocational training program, and David Igual.

“A key part of applying what you learn during your studies is complementing it with real experience in a company. This is where you gain confidence, prove your value, and begin your professional journey.”

We also spoke with team members such as Adrián Zaharia, Francisco Vidal, and Teresa Salvador, who began their journey at TUROMAS as interns and are now part of the company:

“I studied a Higher Degree in Robotics and Industrial Automation at IES Segundo de Chomón (Teruel), and through this I had the opportunity to apply what I had learned. My internship was my first contact with the professional world, and it helped me confirm that this is what I want to do. Being able to continue working at the company afterwards has been a great opportunity to keep learning and growing.”

“I studied Transport and Logistics and later specialized in International Trade. I had the opportunity to complete my internship in International Trade at Turomas, starting in April 2024 and finishing in June. During those three months, I was able to apply my knowledge and continue learning thanks to my colleagues’ experience.
After finishing my internship, I was offered the opportunity to stay and work with the team. I am now part of the after-sales department, and I’m very happy with the decision I made.”

“I completed a Vocational Degree in Microcomputer Systems and Networks and a Higher Degree in Multiplatform Application Development at IES Segundo de Chomón. I chose Turomas for my internship because I was attracted by its focus on industrial machinery projects, which I found more interesting than typical office roles. The internship lasted three months and was a very positive experience — I learned a lot about my field and met professionals who motivated me to continue in this sector. Thanks to that experience, I am now part of the TUROMAS team.”

Looking ahead

At TUROMAS, we believe that strengthening ties with vocational training centers is key to reinforcing the industrial ecosystem of the region. Welcoming students for internships not only benefits them — providing experience and improving employability — but also benefits companies, which can incorporate motivated young talent with up-to-date training.

For this reason, we aim to expand our collaboration network beyond the city of Teruel, opening opportunities to young people from other regions who are willing to relocate to Rubielos de Mora. We also seek to actively participate in initiatives that connect education and industry, collaborate with sector associations, and attend events such as job fairs where we can continue showcasing our activity and career opportunities.

Ultimately, TUROMAS is not only committed to technology and innovation. It is committed to people. Because we know that the future of the company — and of the region — depends on attracting, developing, and supporting young talent.
