Tristar Glass, a leading architectural glass manufacturer in the United States, has strengthened its production capacity at its Dallas plant through the acquisition of intelligent machinery from the Spanish brand TUROMAS. This strategic collaboration, driven by high demand and the need to improve operational efficiency, includes the installation of two RUBI 517C cutting tables and an SR-07 storage system.
Founded in 2005, Tristar Glass, Inc. is an architectural glass manufacturing company located in the south-central United States. With three plants across two states, Tristar Glass has more than 390,000 square feet of production space and employs more than 250 people.

Tristar Glass began operations in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and quickly expanded its presence to Dallas and Houston, becoming a benchmark in the manufacturing of insulating and high-performance glass, with certifications from Vitro and Saint-Gobain. Its success is based on the exceptional quality of its products and customer satisfaction, constantly adapting to client needs and paying special attention to the final results of each project. To maintain its high standard of excellence, the company continuously invests in state-of-the-art automated equipment, ensuring that clients receive the highest quality glass in the shortest possible time. It is within this context of commitment that the collaboration with TUROMAS emerged.
Tristar’s partnership with TUROMAS: interview with Rob Carlson, Head of Engineering at Tristar Glass
In a high-demand environment, the company identified the need to improve its production capacity and operational efficiency. For this reason, during its expansion phase at the Dallas facilities, Tristar Glass decided to invest in intelligent machinery for glass storage, loading, and cutting from the Spanish brand TUROMAS.
In collaboration with IGE, TUROMAS’ distributor in the U.S., a detailed study of the client’s specific needs was carried out, and a tailor-made project was developed to meet all Tristar Glass requirements.

Whenever we have seen TUROMAS machinery at Glasstec and GlassBuild trade fairs, it has caught our attention because of its design and speed, as well as its very good reputation.
Robert Carlson, Head of Engineering at Tristar Glass.
Tristar Glass has acquired two RUBI 517C cutting tables equipped with linear motors and the ACR edge deletion system, specially designed to work with Easypro and TPF glass coatings. To feed these tables, an SR-07 rack shuttle storage system with 55 positions has been installed, capable of storing up to 880 tons of glass. In addition, it includes an external reloading position that makes it possible to reload the storage system without stopping the loading cycle.

Both systems, the cutting lines and the intelligent storage unit, can work with either two standard glass sheets or one jumbo glass sheet, increasing system versatility and improving day-to-day operations.
The SR-07 can store jumbo packs or two standard packs of glass, which gives us great storage capacity and flexibility. We can have two different packs and load either of the two positions within the same rack. In addition, by moving the full rack in front of the cutting table, it becomes very fast to cut large quantities of glass at once.

TUROMAS software has also been implemented with StockGlass tools, allowing real-time access to stock information within TUROMAS storage systems, and LinkGlass, which automates the production sequence by eliminating operator intervention in selecting work orders and scheduling loads.
The installation of TUROMAS machinery at Tristar Glass: a process that exceeded expectations
Robert Carlson highlighted the skill and speed of the TUROMAS technical team, who completed the installation in record time.
One of the most remarkable things about TUROMAS was the speed of the installation and the expertise and technical ability of the people who came to work with us. We have worked with many different brands and people, and these guys worked tirelessly during the installation, managing to complete it within a timeframe I thought was impossible.
TUROMAS technical support has become something very valuable for us and will be a key part of our collaboration.
Looking to the future
The collaboration between Tristar Glass and TUROMAS is a clear example of how investment in technology can transform a company’s operations. With the installation of TUROMAS cutting and storage machinery, Tristar Glass is ready to face future challenges and continue expanding, proving that innovation and quality are essential to staying at the forefront of the glass industry.
