Cristalería Reina: Innovation and Tradition in Glass Processing

Exploring the evolution of a family business, its strategic partnership with TUROMAS, and the impact of technology on its sustained success.

Cristalería Reina is a family-owned company known for its long-standing history. The business was founded in 1958 in Villamartín, where Ildefonso Reina Coca took the first steps with a woodworking shop, which over time evolved into a benchmark in the glass sector thanks to dedication and vision. Since then, its evolution has been constant.

At this stage of growth and expansion, the update of cutting-edge technologies has been a key element in maintaining competitiveness and meeting market demands. This is where the collaboration with TUROMAS, a benchmark in glass processing machinery, comes into play.

Its facilities currently include an automatic overhead loader LA-06-RO feeding a mixed automatic cutting line for laminated and monolithic glass, LAM 506TXR.

The choice of TUROMAS machinery is not only based on efficiency and quality criteria, but also reflects a special and long-lasting relationship built on mutual trust and a shared commitment to excellence.

We had the opportunity to speak with Ildefonso Reina, son of the founder. Through his words, we explore the challenges, opportunities, and future vision of this leading company in the glass sector, as well as its partnership with TUROMAS and the impact of technology on its production process.

What is the company? Explanation about the company (history, structure, vision, values, market presence, core business, philosophy, processes, clients, etc.)

Our story began in Villamartín in 1958, when Ildefonso Reina Coca founded the family business with a woodworking workshop that remained active until 1975, when the first expansion of the company took place to add glass to its business offering. This new stage continued until 1991, when Cristalería Reina was founded under the leadership of Ildefonso Reina Perea.

One year later, due to the strong growth of the business during those years, construction began on new 2,000 m² facilities in the El Chaparral Industrial Estate in Villamartín. In 2003, these facilities were expanded again with an additional 1,000 m² to meet the needs of the business.

By 2004, we decided to focus exclusively on the glass business, becoming increasingly specialized and building customer loyalty, which led to the constant growth of the company. Then, in 2008, driven by enthusiasm, effort, and a job well done, we acquired an 80,000 m² plot of land in Montellano to guarantee the continuity, growth, and modernization of the company for future generations. Construction began on a new plant designed to meet the demands of the 21st century.

In 2009, production started at the Montellano facilities, which cover 15,000 m² and are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and machinery that allow us to meet both current and future market and customer demands.

How did the need for new TUROMAS cutting machines arise?

Due to the company’s growth, we needed to improve the process and increase glass cutting capacity based on two fundamental premises: process efficiency and cutting quality.

Which TUROMAS machine models have been installed? Why are these machines the best solution for the company? What would you highlight about them?

Since our beginnings, we have always had a “special” relationship with TUROMAS, and this has weighed heavily in our decision. Despite having offers from other manufacturers, it is in our DNA to believe that companies are made by people, and the TUROMAS team has always adapted very well to our needs, providing full support, exceptional service, and outstanding after-sales assistance. For us, this is extremely important, so we had no doubt that TUROMAS’ proposal was the most attractive one.

We are convinced that this is a winning decision. The combination of reliability and technology guarantees that we can meet the quality and productivity demands of the market.
